WEEKLY
PRAYER GUIDE
Sunday
Pray for the hurting children and
their families whose lives will be touched this year through Operation
Christmas Child. Pray especially that many hearts will be opened
to God's love and the Good News of Jesus Christ
Monday
Most children who
receive shoe box gifts live in desperate circumstances, suffering
from abject poverty, sickness, war, or natural disaster. Pray
that God will meet their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
Tuesday
Pray for the ministry partners of
Samaritan's Purse in countries around the world, expecially that the
shoe box gifts will be effective tools for evangelism. Pray also
for their follow-up and discipleship programs.
Wednesday
Gift-filled show boxes are
distributed in some countries that are not receptive to the Gospel of
Jesus Christ. Pray that doors will be opened, so the Good
News can be shared.
Thursday
Pray for the individuals, families,
churches, and groups who will be filling shoe boxes this year,
especially for the children. Pray that they will see
that it truly is more blessed to give than to receive.
Friday
Pray for everyone
involved in collecting, processing, transporting, and delivering
shoe box gifts, including the tens of thousands of volunteers.
Pray
especially for the timely delivery of the gifts.
Saturday
Pray for the Samaritan's Purse staff
in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, the
Netherlands, Germany, and Australia, as they deal with the logistical
challenges of Operation Christmas Child.

Each year, Creekside's Children’s
Ministries encourages our participation in Operation Christmas Child, a
project of the Samaritan’s Purse organization, led by Franklin
Graham. Empty shoe boxes are filled with small gifts such as
hygiene items, toys, and school supplies. The shoe boxes from our
area will be taken to the
nearest regional
processing station where they are all individually checked and prepared
for overseas shipment.
Since 1993, Samaritan's Purse has distributed over 68 million shoe
boxes in over 130 countries. In addition to receiving a shoe box,
each child also received age-appropriate gospel literature in their
native language. Many children have come to know salvation
through Jesus Christ as
a result.
Our congregation is encouraged to participate in this project either by
packing boxes as individuals and famlies or by contributing to our
group efforts at filling boxes. With this in mind, we are asking
each family to sign up to purchase and bring one or more items to
church any Sunday in October. Shoe boxes will be filled
right after
the Service of Worship on November 6th. On Sunday, November 13th,
we will bring the boxes forward and we will pray over them
and dedicate them to God’s service.
Praise God for the shoe boxes we've been able to send so far. Together, we can
be a
blessing to children around the world and make an impact on their lives
for eternity!
