Our congregation
regularly sends teams of youth and adults to Mexico. In past years
this outreach has been in service to a church in the Cuernavaca
area. One major component of that ministry has been Vacation
Bible School for the children in the neighborhood around the church.
In 2006 we were able to also serve the Casa Betesda orphanage where
about 20 children live.
Through the
spring of 2007 our trips have been in conjunction with Azusa
Pacific University's Mexico Outreach Program, in which hundreds
of churches participate annually. Through 2006 our group
has stayed at Ejido Cuernavaca which is located on the outskirts
of the city of Mexicali. This was the first camp, and thus
the oldest camp in the program. It is also known as the
"big camp" since it can accommodate up to 3,000 people.

In 2007 we focused
on Ensenada. During the spring we stayed at Rancho El Refugio (or "The
Refuge")
which is located 10 miles east of the city of Ensenada. Situated
in a farming community in the hills overlooking Ensenada, El Refugio supports
up to 1,200 people.

Beginning
in the spring of 2007 we began serving the Mount Hermon
|
|
Evangelical
Free Church of Ensenada (Iglesia Evangelica Libre Monte Hermon) which
was begun in 1989. The church
is pastored by Trino Ortiz. Trino
and his wife Esther have been |
|
serving with Missionary Gospel
Fellowship since 1994 and have been in ministry for over 28 years. The
Ortizs are involved in church planting in
very needy areas. Their ministries are varied
in working in the church, outside the church, counseling married couples,
conferences, and children's Bible clubs. They have also begun a medical
clinic in Puerta Trampa where an Evangelical Free Church has begun. It
is our privilege to serve Trino and Esther and the church in Ensenda.
