Short Termers Exploring Missions (STEM)
Our
congregation
encourages
and suports individuals from within our
congregation to participate in short term missions projects. We
praise God for these opportunities to reach beyond our borders and
share the Gospel with others. These missions experiences are also
life transforming for the participant.
White Cross - Tandala Hospital
Begun in 1955, today the Tandala Hospital serves as
the main
reference hospital for more than 500,000 people. Tandala Hospital
is
located in the Democratic Republic of Congo and manages 35 outlying
health centers that supply medical assistance to the people of Central
Africa. Civil unrest and economic hardship are a constant
reality. Moreso, there is the serious delemma that Africa
accounts for 70 percent of AIDS cases worldwide. The opportunity
and challenge for the Church is tremendous. Desparately short on
medical supplies, Tandala Hospital accepts
rolled bandages made from old bed sheets. Members of our
congregation bring their sheets, or hunt for old sheets at garage
sales, which are cut, sewn, and rolled into bandages. These
bandages are shipped to Tandala.
For more information about this vital missions ministry please contact Dee Plett.
