people. Incorporated in 1889, the City offers a rich and varied
living environment with a unique blend of old and new. The City

and schools including a community college and the University of California
at Merced.
Fishing and water sports enthusiasts find many opportunities
close at hand, with several streams and lakes located within
easy driving distance. Merced is less than two hours by car from
Yosemite National Park to the east and to the west is picturesque
Monterey Bay, the Pacific Ocean, miles of fabulous beaches, and the
San Franciso Bay Area.
