Rev. William (Bill) Smith has pastored churches in Minnesota and California. He was the planting pastor for five new congregations including the Evangelical Free Church of Merced.

Pastor Smith has served the Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA) Midwest District as Superintendent since 1994. He has also served on the EFCA Board of Ministerial Standing, the EFCA Board of Directors, and the Interim Pastors Board of Directors. He is a graduate of Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (M.Div. 1973).

Pastor Smith is married to Sue Smith. Sue Smith is a homemaker, teacher, and currently in ministry to pastor's wives in the EFCA Midwest District. Sue earned her Masters in Education from Chapman University. Pastor Bill and Sue have two grown children and a grandson. They live in Kearny, Nebraska. Pastor Bill and Sue are well known for their care of pastors and their families.
